More about the toy piano

(Xenia Pestova, Katelyn Clark and Tristan Perich in performance at L'Envers - photo by Veronika von Volkova.)

Recently, we worked with the exciting New York composer Tristan Perich to perform his fantastic piece qsqsqsqsqqqqqqqqq for three toy pianos and 1-bit electronics at an eclectic Montreal loft space l'Envers. We were so excited by it that we forgot to tell you about a yet another new toy piano acquired by Katelyn Clark - a beautiful little Jaymar with a distinct and clear sound, increasing our collection to six (Katelyn also owns a very special diatonic antique Schoenhut dating back to circa 1910).

Our most recent toy piano excitement is the hype generated on Facebook with Xenia Pestova's group, Toy Piano Performers. If you haven't joined yet, make sure to do so - the page is constantly updated with daily news, videos and photos posted by our members. Chris Foley blogged about the group in his Ultimate Guide to the Toy Piano Scene on the Collaborative Piano Blog. We have also just learned via Facebook that Schoenhut president Renee Trinca is about to start an official Schoenhut Concert Artist Roster on their site! Keep your eyes peeled and your ears fresh for more delightful tinkling of plastic hammers tickling metal rods.
